Internal Skin Care & Pomegranate

Photo-aging is a term that is becoming more mainstream in the world of skin care. Photo-aging refers to the premature aging of the skin due to exposure to the harmful rays of UV light, which comes from the sun or artificial light. In a recent study conducted by the Department of Dermatology at the University of Wisconsin, researchers suggested that pomegranate fruit extract protects specific skin cells against UVB-induced oxidative stress. It is more important now than ever to protect ourselves and ensure that we are taking preventative measures by supplementing with skin strengthening ingredients, such as pomegranate, to allow for more radiant and stronger skin.

Protection Against Photo-aging
Exposure to UV light account for 90 percent of the symptoms of premature skin aging, and most of the effects by age 20. Photo-aging is a relatively new term defining the process by which skin is damaged as a result of exposure to UV sunlight. UV light is one of the most prominent environmental stresses on our skin, causing sunburn, premature skin aging, discoloration and skin cancer.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, ultraviolet radiation is a proven human carcinogen. Research now indicates that several nutrients and antioxidants can aid in protecting and healing of damaged skin.

Staying young is a secret we would all like to unveil. It’s important to understand that how we take care of our skin today will have an effect on how our skin looks 10 or 20 years from now. Oral supplementation of antioxidants is a great addition to your sun protection regimen. But remember antioxidants are not a substitute for sunscreen. Take care of your skin today with a powerful combination of antioxidants and a daily SPF moisturizer!
