Choosing the right retail products or vendors for your spa

Choosing the right products is important in the success of your retail presence. If you don’t believe in the product, then you will not have the passion to sell it to your clients. Make sure you research the products you are thinking of carrying. Ask:

  • What the ingredients are?
  • Can it be used in treatments (before, during and after)?
  • Is it unique in any way when compared to other products?
  • Is it exclusive to the spa?
  • Does it provide a solution to what your clients need?
  • Does the product have enough shelf presence?

Choosing the right vendor is just as important as the product itself. Establishing a working relationship with your vendor will ultimately allow you to succeed in your retail adventure. There are a several things to take into consideration when choosing the vendors you work with. These include:

  • Support before the sale (can they represent their product well?)
  • Support after the sale (do they provide you with training, marketing and sales support?)
  • How proactive are they with their follow up?
  • What do they offer to support the success of your retail plan (will they provide added marketing and advertising support?
